BREEDING PHILOSOPHY

Our breeding philosophy is to breed for well balanced genetics in a moderate frame. Solid feet and legs are a must for us. We run in big pastures with lots of rock and limited water sources so our cattle have to be able to travel and be free of feet and leg problems. In the winter our herd runs on desert permits and in the summer they run between 6000-6400’ in elevation. Many of our customers run at elevations over 10,000’ so PAP is extremely important to us.

 

We PAP test our entire herd and select AI sires that have proven high elevation track records to ensure anything we sale is suitable for those higher elevations. We don’t chase fads or single trait EPDs. We breed  cows that are functional, breed up on time year after year, and can wean a calf we are proud to put our brand on, all while maintaining her own body condition on short, dry, feed. Using this selection criteria, coupled with the natural selection of the range we run on, makes us confident that our bulls can go anywhere and thrive.
